How to get things FREE, for real!
74Getting GOOD things free!
Every time you get one of those spam emails promising you things for free, it’s almost impossible to resist opening it. But then you do, only to find it is nothing free at all! It may be a scam to get you to enter your credit card number online. So many people fall for this, especially newcomers to the WIDE WORLD of Internet scams! Don’t be fooled! Read on and I will tell you how to really get stuff for free!
It took me awhile, but I learned the REAL way to get free things the easy and HONEST way! Actually it came upon me quite by accident!
Well, we know that there are places that give free samples so you will know if you want to buy their product or not. That’s great! And very nice of the company to make up samples for us to decide if we want to purchase them or not.
First of all, you can go to any website that has the products you like, and write to them, look for coupons or their "free samples" link. If they don't have one, that's ok, they are not monopolizing freebies!
THIS CAN BE USED FOR EITHER MEN OR WOMEN! Here is how it happened for me and it can work for YOU!
My FREE Estee Lauder products!
This is the high end, but please stay with me!
I recently came into a bit of unexpected money. That is irrelevant to you, but be patient and read on. I used it to do some much needed things and after house/car repairs were taken care of, I decided to treat myself to some things I hadn’t been able to buy in quite some time. Being single and buying a home, I really didn’t have means to just go out on a whim and buy things I’ve wanted! I’d been kind of stuck buying low end make up, soaps, and things that I really didn’t like, but was forced to use anyway due to lack of income.
First thing I did after paying my bills and repairs was hit the best stores for high end make up (that really does have that 15 hr “stay in place” quality that others claim, but do not actually work). Since I live in a rural area out of the city, the stores are quite far to travel to for just one or two things. But since I was in town I stopped into a Belk’s department store and hit the Estee Lauder counter.
I told the clerk that I needed an eye liner that would not burn my eyes as I have had so much trouble and wasted so much money buying drug store make up! She brought out some for me to try. I put it on, and no burn, no watery eyes! I blinked several times and NO smudge either! Ok, I was hooked. So I bought 3 different eye liners and a couple of Double Wear eye shadows that matched.
The girl rang up my purchase and, because it was over $35.00, I was entitled to a free bag and make up kit. That didn’t seem to phase me so I still picked out a few more things as I didn’t want to leave without all I needed knowing the store was so far away. By that time, the girl said since I had spent $100.00 that I was also entitled to two matching make up bags, plus the bigger one I had already gotten for free.
Now I know what you’re thinking, still I spent over $100.00 to get anything free. And most likely not really free because the cost was so much. NOT TRUE. Had I spent that money buying drug store make up, I would not have gotten the extras that came free. PLUS, the most important part -- YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Why pay $22.00 for two drug store eyeliners that have to be reapplied and fixed throughout the day when I could just pay $17.50 for one Estee Lauder or other higher quality eyeliner that will last 15 hours without having to be touched up? Well, we can see the Estee Lauder was the deal at $17.50 because it was going to last a lot longer than the drug store brands.
Well, I got home, and set up all my make up kit’s the way I wanted them. One for my purse, one for home and one to take along on overnight. So the two make up bags which would have been more than $10.00 to purchase in any other store really came in handy.
When I realized how much I loved this line of make up, I came online to purchase more. I wanted the other colors I didn’t get of the “stay in place” eye shadow, so I dropped them into my shopping cart and looked around a bit more at their site which was very easy to navigate. When I was ready to check out, it too said I was entitled to some free items. So I picked them out, and because I had met the dollar amount, I was entitled to free gift wrapping AND free shipping as well.
When the package arrived and I opened the box it was amazing! Even extra free samples were on top! Needless to say it was not only fun, but I’d gotten way more than I expected! Enough to share with a friend. Which I did. She loved it so much that they have gained yet another new customer.
I realized that in one of my kits, I got a mirror & comb set rather than a powder eye shadow kit that was pictured. So I wrote to them and asked why or was it not supposed to have been included in my order. They promptly wrote me back saying it was out of stock, but would be glad to make it up to me. Within a few days I received an package with DKNY body bath, lip gloss, waterproof mascara (3 tubes to share), more of the under eye cover, and some perfume samples as well.
Ok, so if you’re thinking I have already spent quite a bit of money on this, that I deserved it, don’t forget to keep in mind, that I had only spent $100.00 but got over $300.00 worth of extras. Of course, I wrote again to the company’s website to thank them. Again, without expecting it, came another package with more free samples! A nice surprise!
The inexpensive make up line!
Let’s step back now to the drug store make up. They’re not all bad, but just a different quality, different selections and my old brands of make up that I was only able to afford before my unexpected money. So, as I looked around, I see that Max Factor had the same exact eye shadow pallet as Cover Girl. I couldn’t decide which to buy, so I bought both!
When I returned home, and decided to practice on what would be a best look for me, I opened them both. Well, the yellow color from Cover Girl wouldn’t even come off of the pallet with either their brush or mine! When I opened the Max Factor, and tried the yellow, it came off onto my brush very nice! No problem whatsoever, as well as brushed on very smooth!
This set me in motion! I went to Max Factor’s website and wrote to their customer service to tell them how well their shadow worked as the other didn’t work at all! I just wanted to thank them and let them know I was happy with it! About a week later (because they do ask for your name and address when filling out their forms) I unexpectedly received from Max Factor a coupon for ANY Max Factor product ANY PRICE, along with a very nice letter thanking me for letting them know they were putting out a quality product.
Max Factor vs. Cover Girl?
Not bad for a freebie!
While it might not be the 15 hour stay in place, it still can go over the 15 hour stay in place cream shadow to blend and make a new color, thus, it too will stay in place!
I poked the coupon in my purse and the next time I was in town I stopped in a Wal-Mart and looked over their Max Factor products again, and seen there was the blue/gold/pink pallet that I had wanted but didn’t get! So I got that for free. An $8.00 eye shadow pallet with only that tax to pay! What a great deal! Hey, to some of us, 8 bucks is 8 bucks! : )
So that was the beginning of learning that you don’t have to write complaint letters to get free things. Sometimes a business or place will like to know if their product is good, too! In writing that note of praise, it got me the free pallet!
From Drill Bits to Random Tools!
Freebies for men too!
Now I hope this doesn’t make you think that make up is the only thing you can get free. Almost ANYTHING you can think of, you can either get VERY generous coupons or even free samples before you spend a dime! Like grocery items, household items, baby items. And for the men, my friend got a free set of drill bits from Black & Decker for writing a complimentary letter!
You pay for the Internet, USE IT!
One of the best things about the Internet is, you don’t even need a stamp!
Just go to their website and write to them. If they are a reputable company, they will not put you on a mailing list and they will not sell or give your address away for more junk mail. Not once have I received any “out of the ordinary” junk mail since I have been writing to web-sites and praising their products.
That doesn’t mean you won’t, but I didn’t. This is just my story of how I began to get free things by learning how to go about it. This doesn’t mean it’s going to yield you something free every time, but so what! It might and has worked, so it’s worth a try if you really like (or dislike) a product.
Circular Saw with no BLADE?
Complaints and making them work!
If you do decide it’s time for a complaint letter, complain away, but BE NICE about it. Don’t go off on them or tell them off or that you’ll never use their product again or you‘ll tell everyone how terrible it is, etc. Why would they care, when for every ONE person who doesn’t like it, there’s ONE who does! You might only get that “I’m sorry you weren’t pleased” letter back!
There are nice ways to complain! Just as I could write to Cover Girl and tell them that the Max Factor’s yellow pallet worked so much better than Cover Girl’s did. One thing I learned from that experience is both products are put out by Proctor and Gamble, so it didn’t really matter who I wrote the letter to, but by specifying I liked Max Factor, that’s why I got the free Max Factor product coupon.
If you’d rather have the Cover Girl, then write them saying you liked it over the other, and P&G will most likely send you a coupon for Cover Girl and you can pick what you like from that line! Either way, these are reputable companies who have shown loyalty to their customers!
If you have any more questions or I have not covered everything, just drop me an email or comment and we’ll talk about it and see if I can help you come to a conclusion about how to go about whatever product it is you’re having a problem with or would like to write a letter of praise. I’ll be glad to help you, as looking up “free samples” on search engines does not tell you REAL places to get free samples! Just a bunch of wild links that will bring email trackers back to your inbox and flood you with spam!
Thanks for reading and I hope this has been helpful. And remember, you do not have to start off with high dollar items, mine only came about by accident! YOU can start now, without spending a dime. Go find the web site of something you like, and send them a nice email and tell them how much you love their product. Don’t be afraid to put your name and address in their form, after all, who knows what nice thing they might send you!
The Buck Doesn't Stop Here....
Type in that URL!
I also began my quest for other items, and here are other reputable companies who are willing to both send you samples (and generous ones) as well as in-store coupons!
Their web sites are great for feedback about their products and will do their best to make you a happy customer! After all, a happy customer is good word of mouth free advertising for them, and a return customer of YOU!
